Duke Students Reach Out To Durham Through Volunteer Work

I'm glad to see a *positive* story about Duke!

Being both a Duke student and employee, I see the University in the news frequently. Unfortunately, most recent reporting has been largely negative and loaded with stereotypes.

Regardless of the outcome of allegations against the lacrosse players, it is important to remember that Duke is a community that does some very good things. As this article states, "Three out of four Duke students volunteer in Durham." In addition, many faculty and staff (myself included) actively participate in the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership in an effort to make the community a better place.

That is powerful.
